Introduction
In the year 2186, Earth was a bleak shadow of its former self. Dragons, the majestic creatures that once soared freely in the sky, were now teetering on the brink of extinction. Their horns and gleaming scales had become commodities more valuable than gold, leading to rampant poaching by avaricious humans. In this dire era, there was but one voice which roared against the tide of disdain towards these creatures: Leron.
Leron, a passionate dragon rights activist, spent his days fighting for draconian rights. He advocated for the protection of the last few survivors. Leron believed in these creatures‘ innate right to live and their intrinsic connection to the Earth’s well-being.
An impending threat
News broke out that confirmed Leron’s latter belief. An enormous asteroid, large enough to trigger another ice age, was hurtling towards Earth. The potential devastation weighed heavy on the world’s collective conscience. Scientists and leaders worldwide scrambled for solutions, but none seemed feasible.
Remembering ancient tales of the celestial energy that dragons were believed to possess, Leron thought of a daring plan. He approached the last dragon elder, Aerious, to ask for help. Aerious, a 120ft, imposing figure, was a regal grey dragon with eyes that had witnessed centuries of his kin’s decline.
“Why should I assist those who have driven us to near extinction?” Aerious challenged Leron with a thundering voice, his distrust palpable.
Leron, with determination and humility, replied, “Because in you, I see the hope for a new beginning, not just for dragons, but for all of Earth. We’ve been ignorant, but your act of compassion could be the beacon that redirects mankind.”
Days turned into nights as Leron and Aerious conversed, with Leron sharing tales of human kindness and aspirations. He spoke of children who dreamt of a world where dragons and humans coexisted. Communities that secretly protected dragon hatchlings, and of his own lifelong commitment to the cause.
A change of heart
Moved by Leron’s unwavering faith and recognising that the future could still be re-written, Aerious finally agreed. With the asteroid closing in, the ancient dragon harnessed his deep reserves of celestial energy. At breakneck speed he soared higher than any dragon had ever gone before. As humanity watched with bated breath, Aerious released a cataclysmic beam of pure energy. He obliterated the asteroid, illuminating the Earth’s skies in a spectacle of shimmering colours.
The world rejoiced, and the story of the dragon who saved them from the brink became legend overnight. Aerious, once wary and resentful, now stood as a symbol of hope and unity.
A world reborn
With the immediate threat averted, global leaders acted swiftly. The first decree passed was the protection of dragons. Poaching was declared a heinous crime, punishable by dragon fire. Sanctuaries were created, breeding programmes initiated, and within decades, dragon numbers started rising.
In this new era, dragons soared freely once again, not as feared monsters or coveted treasures, but as respected co-inhabitants of Earth. Leron’s dream had been realised; humans and dragons thrived side by side. A new chapter began, reminding everyone of the ancient bond between man, beast, and the universe.
